Upper Palaeolithic (Late Solutrean or early Magdalenian)

Description générale de la destination:

Archaeological Provincial Museum which makes it possible to know the evolution of the area since Lower Palaeolithic to Middle Age. The element is located in the Palaeolithic hall. It is a piece of slate 36.5cm long, 7.5cm wide and 1.2cm thick with engravings representing a total of 26 figures of animals, horses and ibex (wild goats). The plaque of Villalba has in its 500 cm2 of surface (adding both sides), as many Palaeolithic representations as many of the large Palaeolithic caves known in Southwest Europe.

Description des ressources du musée:

The modern “Museo Numantino” is the result of the merger of the former Provincial Museum, which was called the Celtiberian Museum from 1932 to 1968 and the Numantino Museum of Soria. Its permanent exhibition shows the history of the province of Soria in chronological order, through its most significant remains, from the Lower Palaeolithic to the Modern Age. The importance of its collection from the Celtiberian period justifies a specific section with a wide sample of metal objects and pottery, regarded as unique from the points of view of their quality, aesthetics and iconography. The visually handicapped and blind are able to experience the main objects through touch and hearing.
