Entorno Natural:
The Tolmo de Minateda Archaeological Park constitutes the geo-archaeological context of the shelter. The Park has the vocation to articulate the cultural and environmental elements of its surroundings. For this reason, during the visit, attention is paid not only to the exhibition, musealisation and explanation of the archaeological remains, but also to all those environmental aspects which in the Tolmo, or from the site itself, are susceptible to explanation and admiration. The complex includes the cave paintings of Minateda, declared a World Heritage Site in 1998. A visit to the site allows you to see the location of the most important environmental and geological landmarks in its surroundings and facilitates, through the inclusion of panels and other educational resources, the understanding of the flora, fauna and geology of the surroundings.
Evidencias arqueológicas del sitio:
The Archaeological Park of Tolmo de Minateda is configured around the site of the same name, being a human settlement with a long cultural attachment that starts from the Bronze Age and reaches the twentieth century. It is located in the municipality of Hellín, in the south-east of the province of Albacete, bordering on Cieza (Murcia), on a hill with a rock face (“muela”), 500 metres high, with steep slopes that limit access to a natural path, “El Reguerón”, which makes it easily defensible. It has a difference in level with respect to its closest environment (Rambla de Minateda) of 50 m.
