Chalcolithic -Bronze ages

General description of the destination:

Sejos: This megalithic group is formed by a semicircle of 5 large stones (menhirs or steles), two of them have schematic engraved representations, which have been identified with representations of prehistoric idols. They are rectangular figures finished in an arched lined in their top area, with series of transversal and zigzag lines, and bowls. One of the idols is accompanied by a representation of a triangular-bladed dagger. The chronology of the representations can be established at the beginning of the Bronze Age (about 3,800 years ago).

History of the site:

The site was known to the local population since ancient times. The archaeological study of it is recent. It was developed by teams of the University of Cantabria in the 1980s.

The MUPAC (Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria) has excellent reproductions of the idols of Sejos in its Recent Prehistory area.
